Fourteen runners remain in contention for Saturday’s 2015 Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill Gardens; offering punters exceptional value from a betting standpoint and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Talented four-year-old Winx ($4) has received steady support in 2015 Theo Marks Stakes betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au and remains outright favourite for success ahead of Vashka ($6) and Messene ($6).
Will Winx justify favouritism and post a first-up win in the 2015 Theo Mark Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals find the line in the clear?
Winx is undoubtedly one of the class horses confirmed in the 2015 Theo Marks Stakes final field and while needing some luck in transit from barrier 11, has been confirmed to be partnered by James McDonald with only 54.5kgs on her back. Stamping her claims as one to watch through the 2014 Spring Carnival, the Redoute’s Choice mare needed a couple of runs to find condition this year before returning to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) before running fifth in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) and second in the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m); returning to the paddock after posting a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m).
Strawberry Boy ($9)
Strawberry Boy has continued to improve through each of his preparations since transferring to the care of Chris Waller and offers exceptional value for money at current $9 odds for success or $3.10 to finish in the first three. Posting nine wins eight minors through 24 career starts so far, the son of Redoute’s Choice ran a credible sixth in the Listed Scone Cup (1600m) on May 15th before taking out each of the Group 3 Lord Mayor’s Cup (1600m) and Listed Wayne Wilson (1600m). Allocated the ideal barrier 5, Strawberry Boy will be partnered by veteran hoop Jim Cassidy.
Sons Of John ($21)
Sons Of John has been set on a bold path towards the featured Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) this season, and is sure to lay a great account for himself from barrier 7 with a weight allocation of just 53kgs. The stable star for up-and-coming trainer Jason Attard, Sons Of John ran third in a Hawkesbury minor over 2000m on April 18th; progressing to success in the Happy Birthday Steve Meyn BM75 (1800m) before making a successful transition to black type racing when taking out the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) by close to three lengths on June 7th.
