It was a day of upsets at Rosehill Gardens on the weekend and the 2011 Sebring Sprint couldn’t escape the trend with some big odds for the astute punter.
There wouldn’t have been many with a piece of it though with Master Of Design virtually leading from post to post at odds above the $20 mark.
There was a little bit of pace on early but it was hardly electric as the big field tried to sort itself out across the track. There were a few sitting three wide throughout the journey and others battling for room as they bunched before the turn.
Out in front though Master of Design had no such issues scooting a couple clear from a couple including Fast Clip.
Once clear the gap seemed to get bigger if anything as a few of the back markers picked up a run and finally clicked up a gear with a furlong to go.
By then it was a group of five that rained down on the leader but despite running out of gas 50m from home the work was already done and Master Of Design left with a gutsy victory.
Torio’s Quest came in second with a tremendous late charge from Fast Clip which battled nicely to hang on from Pinwheel.
There were very few that picked the winner and even less that cashed in on the exotics with the field seemingly losing sight of Master Of Design at the top of the turn.
Whether they were simply caught off guard or if they weren’t concerned about letting it go aren’t clear, what is though is that they were made to pay with a great tactical ride being matched equally by plenty of guts and determination from the horse.
