More Joyous Wins 2010 Theo Marks Stakes

September 13th, 2010

More Joyous has earned comparisons to the great Sunline after the Gai Waterhouse-trained mare made a mess of her rivals in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (Sebring Spring) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Five-year-old More Than Ready mare More Joyous ($2.15F) burst from barrier nine and was never threatened as she coasted to a magnificent three length victory in the 2010 Theo Marks Stakes ahead of Rothesay ($3.50) with Drumbeats ($14) a further head back in third.

In our Theo Marks Stakes Preview our tip was to bet on More Joyous and Rothesay in a Quinella through Sportsbet, and punters that followed our tip enjoyed a good payout!

Punters that followed our race tip to put More Joyous and Rothesay in a quinella through Sportsbet won big!

Ridden by Corey Brown while regular jockey Nash Rawiller serves a suspension, More Joyous was hailed as the best horse Brown had ever ridden and received further accolades from Waterhouse who said she could be the next Sunline.

The main spring target for More Joyous is the 2010 Cox Plate on October 23, and following her devastating win in the Theo Marks, Sportsbet have shortened her odds into $12.

Two other Group features highlighted the Rosehill race card on Saturday, with More Joyous’s stablemate Herculian Prince winning the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) while Trim scored victory in the Group 3 Research Stakes (1200m).
