Group 1 Winners Head 2010 Theo Marks Stakes Nominations

The next major race meeting of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival will be held at Rosehill this Saturday, the meeting headlined by the $200,000 Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1400m).

The 2010 Theo Marks Stakes has drawn 14 nominations including a number of gallopers heading towards the Group 1 spring features such as More Joyous, Empires Choice, Tracey Bartley’s Sniper’s Bullet and improving gelding Brilliant Light who will lead in the odds.

Gai Waterhouse’s super consistent mare More Joyous is one of the top Theo Marks Stakes contenders, the four-year-old daughter of More Than Ready having won seven of her 10 race starts including the Listed Sheraco Stakes last start and was today declared for the 2010 Cox Plate.

Waterhouse also has her four-year-old gelding Descarado nominated for Saturday’s Theo Marks Stakes.

Legendary trainer Bart Cummings has entered Empires Choice, the seven-year-old also still in contention for a run in the 2010 Caulfield Cup after first declarations were taken today.

Also among the 2010 Theo Marks Stakes nominations are the Peter Snowden-trained Skilled, $2.5 million earner Black Piranha resuming racing and Group 1 Queensland Guineas winner Rothesay.

Other feature Rosehill Races set to light up the track on Saturday include the Group 3 Research Stakes (1200m) and the Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m).

More great betting action will also be found at Moonee Valley as the Victorian course hosts a range of group races including the Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Man Stakes (1600m) and the Group 2 W H Stocks Stakes (1600m).
